E-boatique is an exciting new company founded in January 2018 and operated by HSC to offer expertise in all aspects of electric boating. Whether you wish to buy, broker or re engine a boat, E-boatique can help. E-boatique acts as agent for a number of selected boat manufacturers worldwide as well as offering engineering services to electric boat owners.
Why E-boatique ?
The vision of the founder Gillian Nahum, director of our parent company Henley Sales and Charter Ltd, was to set the benchmark for electric boat ownership in the UK and elsewhere. While electric boating is nothing new, as is clearly demonstrated in the history section of the website, there is now a positive appetite for the boating fraternity to embrace this clean hassle-free form of propulsion especially for the inland waterways. Most marinas and moorings have access to an electricity supply so “cruise and charge” can be as easy as “park and charge” for an electric car. In fact in many cases it is even more practical as trips tend to be no longer than a day and all the electric boats sold by E-boatique are designed to cruise non-stop for at least 8 hours.
Gillian is frequently referenced in the latest tome by Kevin Desmond, Electric Boats and Ships (published 2017 by McFarland). Her 30 years experience in the field of electric propulsion for boats probably marks her out as the longest serving sales persons in the field. Gillian also served as chair of the Electric Boat Association and used to lecture on electric vehicles both in Europe and at home in the early nineteen nineties.
As a director of Pure Boating Limited which offers day hire to the boating public our staff have first hand knowledge of the simplicity, silence and security offered by electric boats when used in the public domain. Our customers love the quiet and sense of calm induced by cruising peacefully and vibration free along the River Thames.
You can visit the Pure Boating website at www.pureboating.co.ukand make an online booking for a relaxing river outing any day in the spring and summer between mid April and mid October.
So you buy an electric boat and then what ? Well maintenance is key to looking after any vehicle whether ashore or afloat. Electric boats are generally fairly simple in terms of their maintenance and here at E-boatique we can look after your boat each winter in our under cover storage, keeping it on charge, topping up batteries where necessary (i.e. only with wet cell batteries) and rectifying any niggles. In the unlikely event of a persistent problem we, or one of our approved subcontractors, will come to your boat to carry out repairs as necessary.
