Aquabus and Grove Boats in Lucerne
Switzerland may be a small country but its Transport Museum in Lucerne is a major attraction bringing in half a million visitors every year. Interestingly the Museum sees its role as not only interpreting the past but also showing the possibilities for the future. Grove Boats, represented in the UK by EBoatique, was approached by the Museum originally in 2012 when they were putting on an exhibition about solar power. Subsequently in 2016 the museum requested an electric motor followed by a request this summer for actual working boats on the Museum’s central boating lake. Hence Grove Boats provided a selection of boats including the 5 passenger Ace and a Gogo solar boat from Italy. It appears that the boats were a massive attraction for the museum. Visitors love the peace and tranquillity offered by this non polluting form of transportation on water.
More news from Grove Boats in Switzerland with their Aquabus 1050T which is currently fitted out as a 24 person passenger boat both in the Vosges and in Lyon; why not use the same hull and make a live aboard ? We await more news on that front but this has to be the future for a more sustainable way of life.
